Firebird

Firebird has been created for submission to the London Glass Blowing and Contemporary Glass Society Exhibition 2025 in response to their exhibition theme 'Mirage'.
A two part sculpture standing on a 40cm diameter mirror it is 22cm high.
An inferno of fiery colours, the top part is abstract kiln formed flames drawn from the mathematical geometry of hypotrochoids, this is mounted on an arc of streaky red and yellow transparent glass. When the sculpture's reflection is observed in the mirror on which it stands, the mirage is revealed to be a golden firebird on the underside of the arc.
