Generations

Generations is a triptych of gravity vessels, in tones of white patterned coral transforming to white at the base. Parent, child and grandparent (elevated on a clear glass stand). Each shares the same genetics represented by the pattern, yet each has become an individual with it's own characteristics.

The concept of age has been achieved through the process of kiln forming each vessel. Waste glass was passed from the creation of one vessel to the next vessel to be formed. With each subsequent time in the kiln the molecular characteristics of the glass changes, it could be said to 'age'. Therefore the 'Parent' has a strong profile and vivid colours, the 'Child' has a svelte profile and light immature colours and finally the 'Grandparent' has a soft textured surface and muted colours. The 'Grandparent' is elevated on a stand to represent cultures that venerate their elders.
